Many people are involved in the creation of each issue of The Prevention Researcher. Obviously, our authors and editorial staff have a big impact on the content we provide; however, there are many other people who guide our topics, articles, and content – namely our Advisory and Editorial* Boards.

Our Advisory Board represents our readers; they are social workers, counselors, program administrators, case managers, and others who work with youth in school and community-based organizations. The Advisory Board provides valuable feedback during the planning of each issue. Additionally, Board members comment on the readability and practicality of our articles.

If you are interested in being a part of our Advisory Board, please know our requirements include committing to a 3-year term, timely response to correspondence, and reviewing one issue a year. In return, Board members receive a complimentary subscription to The Prevention Researcher as well as the opportunity to shape this national publication.

Learn more about our Advisory Board Structure and Roles download this PDF file:  TPR_Adv_Board_Description. An application form is available here: TPR_Adv_Board_Application

Deadline for submitting an application is July 15, 2012.

If you have questions, please send me email at CKimball@TPRonline.org

* More about our Editorial Board (consisting primarily of researchers and academics) will appear in a later blog post.

Would love to be a part of your advisory board. Love your journals and have so many of them. I speak to teens as well as adults, all over the country about coping with grief, loss and other tough stuff including mental health issues, abuse, addiction, incarceration, adoption, violence, and help to teach them healthy coping strategies, the importance of help seeking and other building blocks of resiliency. My organization is called Grief Speaks. I have an informative website (griefspeaks.com) and have Grief Speaks as well as Grief Speaks 4 Teens on Facebook and Twitter. I am currently writing a book for teens about the many issues I talk to them about. Would be so thrilled to be a part of your advisory board. Thank you, Lisa Athan

I would love to be on your advisory board. I have worked with grieving students in public high schools for 14 years. This fall will be the beginning of the 15th.
